Q&A'S &

Forms & Awaivers

We have provided a basic list of common questions & Answers that our clients may have.

Q: What are you standards and policies in regards to your staff who work with youth & children.

A: It is important to us that our clients are aware that all our staff have to undergo a complete  background and criminal record check when working with the children and youth in our programs {supporting documents available upon request}. Each Certified facilitator has a maximum of 4 participants (2 horses) per program as is the standard of our governing body: The EAL Network. We also encourage all onsite staff to participate in a number of different educations all courses and training, pertaining to children with disabilities, depression and aggressive out bursts [Non Violent Crisis Intervention training].

Q: We do not have a big enough budget for our child/ school/ group/ organization to participate in your programs!
A: Call us! Our mission is to never turn down a school or a child that could benefit from our programs. Our Program director will be able to work with what you have available through your private/school/organization budget.

Q: Joe Rich? That seems far away.
Not at all! We are located directly up the highway 33, approx 15 minutes from Orchard park mall and 20 minutes from the Airport/Ellison area.

Q: What equipment do you provide?
We provide all of the equipment required for the program & lessons, you are just in charge of wearing clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty and closed-toed shoes with a bit of a heel.

This includes off site programs and clinics!

Q: Do you ride in the EAL YOUTH, LADIES OR TEAM building Programs?
No-sir-rie-bob! We only work with horses on the ground in their natural state. All of our work is out of the saddle. You will work alongside the horses as part of your team rather than as a tool. This way the horse can be its true self and not be "on the job". This allows for the best and true reaction of the horse and the most beneficial way of learning for you. If your are interested in a riding lessons then those are available separately!

Q: What Group Size do you work with in your programs?
As small as 3 and to a maximum of 12.  Have more people than that? Give us a shout and we can find a solution.

Q: Do you need experience with horses?
Nope. As our program does not require you to ride a horse, no prior experience is necessary. We will inform every group of the rules and safety precautions to take around the animals and the arena. We always put safety first, but we can accommodate everyone's different comfort levels around the horses.

Q: What if I'm scared and do not like horses?
If you aren't being pushed out of your boundaries, you aren't learning. This is an opportunity to overcome your fears or get over preconceived notions.  We don't always get to pick our team members at work, do we?

Q: What about weather? Winter?

We still continue our programs rain or shine however would have to rebook due to extreme weather concerns where traveling to the farm would become a safety hazard for the participants. We also have a heated in door class room with a coffee bar!

Q: Why Horses?
Cats, Dogs, horses... what's the difference?
There is nothing like a 1,100 lb Teacher…
By their intuitive nature and innate sensitivity, horses can provide facilitators with a window into the participant's personality. As a prey animal, they are sensitive to the stimulus of each participant. They react to the stimulus through body language and participants must adjust their feelings and behaviours to work successfully with the horses.

Q: Are you Certified - Facilitators & Instructors?

A: All our facilitators are certified through International governing body of Equine Assisted Learning facilitators - the EAL Network and uphold their high standards of facilitation.

Q: Do you have insurance?

A: Yes we are insured through Capri Insurance and we encourage our clients and prospective clients to request proof for their own soundness of mind.

We DO NOT hold insurance for client horses that board on site, clinics, lessons or that come in to training as this is the responsibility of the owners to purchase mortality and sickness insurance for their own animals.
